Job Summary:
The departments include Trauma & Orthopaedics, Pain Management & Rheumatology. The postholder will be required to lead, contribute and deliver on the development of clinical service interventions to achieve both Trust and national targets on a consistent basis.

Umbrella: £29.80 - £33.60
PAYE Inclusive of holiday pay: £26.20 - £29.50
Hours / Working Days: 37.5 hours per week / Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

Responsibilities:
- Ensures efficient and effective delivery of services for the achievement of quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness and improved clinical outcomes.
- Supports the implementation of the CSU risk management and clinical governance policies and systems effectively, ensuring a proactive approach to reducing clinical risk, whilst maximizing clinical effectiveness within a safe and healthy environment.
- Develop and co-operates effective reporting arrangements within the specialty / department management teams to accurately record and monitor performance against local and national targets and pro-actively manage any variances.
- Provide performance reports to support the monthly CSU review board and implement action plans to rectify any deviation in the planned performance.
- To line manage a team of CSU staff.
- Ensuring patient safety through assessing and managing the risk to patients associated with service developments, balancing economic considerations with the need for patient safety.
- Critically evaluating through being able to think analytically, conceptually and to identify where services can be improved working individually or as part of a team.
- Encouraging improvement and innovation by creating a climate of continuous service improvement.
- Facilitating transformation by actively contributing to change processes that lead to improving healthcare.
- Produces and present business service development plans which will enhance patient care and meet the changing healthcare demands.
- Supports clinical to deliver service re-design projects that delivery improved clinical outcomes for patients, reduced waiting times and more efficient use of resources.
- Manage timely and effective recruitment and retention of staff.
- Ensure appraisal is carried out for all staff and training needs are identified.
- Manage mandatory training and ensure that service records are kept up to date.
- Be responsible for managing absence rates within the staff group.
- Manage staff expectations particularly around changes to the service / Division which may impact their job security.
- Ensure optimal use of staffing resources and review workforce requirements as required.
- Ensure all staff are aware of and implement Trust policies and procedures and establish and implement local guidelines, policies and procedures as appropriate.
- Ensure that the Trust’s policies on conduct and performance are adhered to and communicated effectively to all staff.
- Ensure that all staff are working to maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
- Participate in disciplinary investigations within the Division / service.
- Support medical staff colleagues with recruitment of temporary and permanent medical staff.
- Support the Division to implement the staff survey action plan working with the HR Team.
