The role

As a Surgical First Assistant, you’ll play a critical role in the operating room alongside the surgical team. Your primary duties will involve providing direct assistance to the surgeon during surgical procedures, including handling surgical instruments, suturing incisions, and ensuring a sterile field. You’ll also anticipate the surgeon's needs, retract tissues, and manage haemostasis to control bleeding. You may also be involved in the closure of surgical sites and wound dressing. Additionally, you’ll closely collaborate with the surgical team to help ensure the safety and efficiency of surgeries, contributing significantly to successful patient outcomes.

Nursing requirements

• NMC registration

• 6 months’ experience within a UK healthcare setting

• Right to work in the UK
