£13.70-£16.60 paye inclusive of holiday pay per hour

Depending on skill and experience 

Hours worked in the following days and hours will be paid as: 

Working Days and Hours: Monday to Friday, 

Remote Working: Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days in office

 

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Financial accounting and reporting, the Assistant Financial Accountant will provide operational support in delivering all aspects of the HPL’s financial services function, balance sheet monitoring and reporting. The role will ensure a robust control environment is maintained in accordance with principles of sound financial governance, Standing Financial Instructions and standard operating procedures

 

The role will involve the analysis of financial information and the ability to concisely communicate the output of financial analysis to assist in financial decision making. The post holder will also be expected to update procedures, and to help in shaping future financial services developments and driving process improvements. You will be required to contribute technical accounting and business knowledge, strong analytical skills, and to be able to communicate finance issues whilst operating autonomously. 

 

Duties 

  • Responsible for the day to day proactive operation of the accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash management functions. 
  • Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to address issues.
  • Proposes payment runs to ensure that payment terms and prompt payment discounts are achieved.
  • Prepares and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) taking remedial action to improve performance when necessary.
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts within specific deadlines.
  • Work within fixed deadlines to enable monthly/annual returns to be completed on time. 
  • Contribute to the HPL’s Monthly and Year End reporting processes, working autonomously and with minimal supervision.  Ensure that the HPL’s financial controls are maintained and reviewed regularly.
  • Ensure compliance with Standing Financial Instructions and Standing Orders.

  • Extensive experience of working in an administrative and financial office environment, including the use of financial accounting software packages
  • Experience of using dedicated financial system reporting tools
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and effective inter-personal skills liaising with individuals at all levels inside and outside of the organisation
  • Ability to interpret complex financial information and explain to non-finance people with clarity
  • Ability to negotiate on difficult and controversial issues in particular where expenditure and/or accrued income/ expenditure has been incorrectly allocated
